Lanier Law Firm Pursuing Discrimination, Negligence Claims for Victim

HOUSTON – The Lanier Law Firm has been named co-lead counsel of the trial team representing a mentally challenged student who was the alleged victim of sexual abuse, racial taunting, and physical violence by fellow football players at an Idaho high school.

The federal lawsuit, filed last year, claims that the individually named school board trustees, administrators, teachers and coaches of the Dietrich School District chose to ignore the ongoing physical and mental abuse being suffered by Antwon McDaniel, effectively depriving him of his constitutional rights. The racially-motivated violence inflicted on the now 19-year-old Mr. McDaniel, who is black, included anal rape with a coat hanger by several white football players in 2015.

Three from Lanier Law Firm Named to List of New York’s Top Women Attorneys

Firm lawyers recognized for work in class actions, cases involving dangerous products

NEW YORK – Three attorneys from the New York office of The Lanier Law Firm have been named to the list of Top Women Attorneys in New York by the editors of Super Lawyers. The complete list was published in the March 26 edition of The New York Times.

Firm attorneys Catherine Heacox, Zarah Levin-Fragasso and Melissa Nafash earned spots on the list based on their work for plaintiffs injured by dangerous pharmaceutical drugs and medical devices, as well as their representation of plaintiffs in complex civil litigation involving mass tort actions and environmental injury matters. Each had previously been named to the list of 2016 New York Metro Super Lawyers, which is comprised of no more than 5 percent of the eligible attorneys in the region. TAMPA, Fla. – The Lanier Law Firm has filed a class-action lawsuit on behalf of homeowners in Central Florida, charging that operators of phosphate mines failed to warn them about dangerously high levels of radiation.

Newly obtained information from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency confirms that the Lakeland-area subdivisions of Oakbridge and Grasslands have been exposed to toxic contamination from phosphate strip mines operated by Drummond Company. HOUSTON – Members of an invitation-only organization of top trial lawyers have singled out attorney Mark Lanier as its Trial Lawyer of the Year, while recognizing The Lanier Law Firm among the Top 25 most influential litigation firms in the United States.

Mr. Lanier accepted the awards at The National Trial Lawyers’ February 2017 Trial Lawyers Summit in South Beach, Florida. In addition, members elected Mr. Lanier to the position of president-elect of The National Trial Lawyers; he will serve as president in 2018.
