What led you to a legal career?

I wanted a profession in which I could do meaningful good for the world and be of service to my community.

What has been your most interesting or memorable case and why?

My favorite case was when I represented my mother-in-law in a car accident. The defendant’s insurance company had offered a de minimis amount, and her health insurance provider was taking a very aggressive stance towards recovering medicals. There is no quicker way to establish a good relationship with your in-laws than to settle for policy limits with a 50% reduction in medicals.

What litigation are you currently working on?

Primarily, I work in our toxic tort division, specifically asbestos and asbestos-related bankruptcies. I also headed up our Addicks-Barker inverse condemnation litigation arising from the Army Corps of Engineers’ release of water during Hurricane Harvey. I’m currently working with Sam Taylor and our trial team on a docket of cases in Libby, Montana.

What are one or two things about you that most people don’t know?

I may or may not have built an outdoor hydroponic garden during a pandemic.
