Job Purpose:
The Paralegal will provide comprehensive legal and administrative support to attorneys within our
Business Litigation department. This role is critical for ensuring efficient case management, legal
research, and trial preparation, with a focus on commercial and business litigation. The ideal
candidate will possess over 5 years of experience, paralegal certification or bachelor’s degree, and
a robust understanding of business and commercial legal matters, with the ability to work in a fast
paced, ever-changing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned business and commercial cases or projects. Facilitate communication and collaboration among all parties involved.
  • Draft, review, and revise legal documents including pleadings, motions, and correspondence, ensuring accuracy and compliance with the relevant jurisdiction.
  • File motions and pleadings according to court rules and e-filing procedures.
  • Research and analyze statutes, regulations, case precedents, and other legal sources. Provide detailed written analyses to attorneys to aid in case strategy and decision-making.
  • Prepare comprehensive summaries of litigation cases from inception to conclusion, ensuring that all relevant information is captured and organized for case use.
  • Utilize various platforms (i.e., DISCO, Relativity, etc.) to review various documents productions using Boolean searches.
  • Prepare, organize, store, and retrieve case files, including evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, and other pertinent documents. Implement and maintain effective filing systems and databases.
  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including proofing trial briefs, organizing exhibits, compiling trial binders, and preparing tables of authorities. Provide support during trials by managing evidence, coordinating witnesses, and addressing any logistical needs.
  • Enter time and maintain records of billable hours and expenses associated with specific cases. Ensure accurate and timely entry into the billing system.
  • Perform e-filing for state and federal cases, ensuring compliance with e-filing procedures and deadlines. File medical and billing affidavits as needed.
  • Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and monitor court deadlines. Ensure timely follow up on all case-related tasks and deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, counsel, and experts. Draft and send correspondence and memos to attorneys and other firm personnel as needed.
  • Conduct legal research and factual investigations as directed. Analyze findings and present them in a clear and actionable format.
  • Support attorneys during trials in the courtroom, as needed, including client interactions ensuring a professional and supportive experience.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the legal field (business and commercial litigation preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or certification from an ABA-approved paralegal program is required.
  • High attention to detail to ensure accuracy on all documents.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Experience in e-filing and managing multiple case files.
  • Familiarity with Pacer, Lexis, and Westlaw.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a business and commercial legal environment or handling complex business and commercial litigation.
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial legal terminology and procedures.
  • Advanced skills in legal research and analysis.
  • Proficiency or prior experience with litigation support software such as Relativity, Disco, iManage, or Litify is a plus.
