ATTORNEY SPOTLIGHT – Dr. Robert E. Leone

Each month, we like to feature one of our attorneys to help you get to know our team better. We recently sat down with attorney and in-house trial psychologist Dr. Robert E. Leone to talk about his background in the legal field and what he is currently working on.

What led you to a legal career?

I knew it was time for a career change after I burned out from seeing so many depressed patients while I was a clinical psychologist/therapist.

What has been your most interesting or memorable case and why?

There are many. The first was the Rubicon case where I met Mark Lanier. I am also fond of the Vioxx case where I got to work with my wife, the “Amazing Kelly,” for the first time. Next would be Carborundum, our first asbestos case, where we pleasantly surprised the asbestos world. No one had beaten the defendant before.  Perhaps the most fulfilling was our Johnson & Johnson talc verdict. It really felt like that work will impact the lives of hundreds of thousands of women!

What litigation are you currently working on?

Typically, I work on all of our cases at some point.  Right now, the opioid litigation keeps me really busy, as do our talc efforts and the military defective earplugs litigation.

What are one or two things about you that most people don’t know?

I’m old and am pretty much an open book! Many might not know I have four children (three lawyers and a college administrator) and four fantastic grandchildren aka the Fantastic Four.  I also have three dogs!
