Ian S. Millican

Ian S. Millican joined The Lanier Law Firm’s New York City office in 2014.  Ian has significant experience representing clients in complex commercial litigation, pharmaceutical and medical device mass torts, antitrust and class action litigation, and intellectual property litigation.  He contributes to litigation strategy, legal briefing, and regularly deposes doctors, medical specialists, expert witnesses, and corporate representatives in high stakes trial matters.  Ian has been admitted to practice law pro hac vice in jurisdictions across the country.

Ian has extensive expertise in representing individuals who have been injured by pharmaceutical drugs and medical devices.  Before joining The Lanier Law Firm, Ian was an associate at another firm in New York City, where he focused on product liability and mass tort matters, and conducted numerous depositions as lead counsel on behalf of Fortune 500 companies throughout the United States and internationally.

Ian graduated from Cornell University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in English.  After working at an international law firm, Ian attended Fordham University School of Law and received his Juris Doctor in 2010.  In law school, Ian was a Notes & Articles Editor of the Fordham Intellectual Property, Media & Entertainment Law Journal, a member of the Dean’s List, and a recipient of the Archibald R. Murray Public Service Award for pro bono and community work.

During the year following law school, Ian clerked for the late Hon. Carol E. Higbee of the New Jersey Superior Court, assisting Judge Higbee with several high-profile pharmaceutical and medical device matters.  During Ian’s clerkship, Judge Higbee was one of three designated mass tort judges in New Jersey, which gave him the privilege of being able to observe and participate in mass torts involving some of the nation’s best trial lawyers.

Ian is admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey, the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.

He has been invited to lecture and serve on panels for several professional organizations, including the 2017 annual convention of the New Jersey Association for Justice on litigation strategy in the Testosterone Replacement Therapy and Abilify products liability matters.  He also has lectured to Fordham Law’s Remedies class on the multi-billion dollar DePuy ASR Hip Settlement.

Ian is a member of the New York City Bar Association and the American Association for Justice (AAJ).  He is a proud, native New Yorker.  In his free time, he enjoys playing the guitar, spending time with friends and family, and exploring the city with his wife and son and their two dogs.
