The Lanier Law Firm Secures Two of the Nation’s Top 100 Verdicts in 2016

Firm’s big jury awards total more than $1.5 Billion

HOUSTON – The National Law Journal has recognized The Lanier Law Firm on its annual list of the nation’s Top 100 Verdicts for two trial victories in federal court against pharmaceutical and medical device giant Johnson & Johnson. Both jury trials involved the claims that J&J hid flaws in its Pinnacle artificial hips that caused the devices to prematurely fail and left the victims facing surgeries, pain and other debilitating conditions.

In December 2016 the firm secured a verdict of more than $1 billion on behalf of six individuals, while in March 2016 a federal jury returned a verdict of $502 million on behalf of another group of patients who were injured by Pinnacle hip implants. Lanier Law Firm Adds Experienced Oil & Gas Attorney Todd Grimmett

Former Chesapeake in-house counsel joins renowned litigation practice

HOUSTON – Veteran energy company in-house counsel Todd L. Grimmett has joined The Lanier Law Firm as a member of the commercial litigation team, bolstering the firm’s growing focus on lawsuits affecting the oil and gas industry.

Mr. Grimmett most recently served as an in-house counsel for Oklahoma City-based Chesapeake Energy Corp., one of the nation’s largest natural gas producers. For the past six years, Mr. Grimmett represented Chesapeake in a number of civil litigation matters and provided legal counsel for the company’s upstream and midstream divisions. In addition, he directed responses to regulatory inquiries and investigations and was responsible for managing the company’s e-discovery department. Teen Suing Idaho School District for Civil Rights Violations Adds High-Powered Attorneys to Legal Team

Lanier Law Firm Pursuing Discrimination, Negligence Claims for Victim

HOUSTON – The Lanier Law Firm has been named co-lead counsel of the trial team representing a mentally challenged student who was the alleged victim of sexual abuse, racial taunting, and physical violence by fellow football players at an Idaho high school.

The federal lawsuit, filed last year, claims that the individually named school board trustees, administrators, teachers and coaches of the Dietrich School District chose to ignore the ongoing physical and mental abuse being suffered by Antwon McDaniel, effectively depriving him of his constitutional rights. The racially-motivated violence inflicted on the now 19-year-old Mr. McDaniel, who is black, included anal rape with a coat hanger by several white football players in 2015.

Three from Lanier Law Firm Named to List of New York’s Top Women Attorneys

Firm lawyers recognized for work in class actions, cases involving dangerous products

NEW YORK – Three attorneys from the New York office of The Lanier Law Firm have been named to the list of Top Women Attorneys in New York by the editors of Super Lawyers. The complete list was published in the March 26 edition of The New York Times.

Firm attorneys Catherine Heacox, Zarah Levin-Fragasso and Melissa Nafash earned spots on the list based on their work for plaintiffs injured by dangerous pharmaceutical drugs and medical devices, as well as their representation of plaintiffs in complex civil litigation involving mass tort actions and environmental injury matters. Each had previously been named to the list of 2016 New York Metro Super Lawyers, which is comprised of no more than 5 percent of the eligible attorneys in the region.
