The widely available talc-based baby powder product is now under recall in 35 states due to possible asbestos contamination, up from 12 states when the recall was first announced in September.
Dynarex Corp. initially recalled 62 cases of its Dynacare Baby Powder in September after routine FDA sampling found asbestos in a batch distributed in 14-ounce bottles.
In late October, the company announced it had expanded the recall to include over 1,000 more cases of the baby powder, containing both 14- and 4-ounce bottles, over potential asbestos contamination. According to an announcement posted on the FDA’s website, the Dynacare products were distributed to 35 states and sold directly on Amazon.
The company said it had investigated further and found additional lots of Dynacare Baby Powder contained the same potentially tainted talc material that prompted the original recall. The expanded recall covers 373 cases of 14-ounce bottles and 647 cases of 4-ounce bottles.
